My Project

Hello! My name is Leslie Skaggs and I teach Reading for Special Education middle school students in grades six to eight at my middle school. I’m raising funds to purchase classroom library materials that will encourage every one of my students no matter the reading level, to pick up a book every day and read!

I hope that these books will inspire my students to read more every day.

Children are taught how to read at school, but for students who face challenges with the reading process, reading independently is many times a daunting task, that students with special needs avoid altogether. I want to build my students' confidence as readers and nurture reading skills that will last a lifetime.

By contributing to my campaign, you’ll help me raise funding to purchase books so that students will have daily access to high-interest reading material, specifically chosen for their individual reading levels. Building our classroom library will benefit students for years to come. With your support, I have chosen books that reflect the reading ability level of every student in my class.
