My Project
Nowadays, a lot of students are struggling to read and many even prefer to not read unless it is absolutely necessary. Yet, many of the emerging SEL issues that students face are modeled in books, providing them advice and examples on how to handle their emotions. Choosing books such as Percy Jackson and Bridge to Terabithia provides students an opportunity to see themselves in the characters and just enjoy reading.
Similarly, many students struggle with getting classroom supplies and materials.
Within the first 3 quarters, my 8th graders have used over 400 pencils! And many are still coming to me asking for other classroom supplies.
Not to mention, cold & flu season always means sneezing, coughing, and germs floating in the classroom. Tissues and hand sanitizer will help combat these germs and help protect these students and teacher from getting sick.
The last major item is the printer. The classroom printer has broken down and with the amount of work and projects students are completing, a classroom printer is a must! Whenever students need to print our images for their poster or their essays for a presentation, the convenience of having a classroom printer available is invaluable. By funding this project, you are helping encourage students to read, providing access to school supplies, and overall support their growth as students.
