This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My awesome students are a diverse set of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder! This year, there are 8 spots in the classroom, which 9 are currently filled! To say the least, we have our hands full- But, we make every moment count! Our students range from Kindergarten through Second Grade.
All children are able to learn despite any birth complications, economic disadvantages, or developmental delays.
My students are amazing and my team and I have high expectations for their continued growth!
My Project
The materials that are listed are selected for our students individualized needs. They will help with adaptive daily living skills- staying in centers without support, reading skills- from directionality to blending and identifying words. With these resources, my students will be able to become independent readers, increase self-monitoring skills and still have fun!
The reading center has struggled since the destruction of our magnetic dolls and wooden figures.
Now, that our students are able to utilize materials, without destruction, we are trying to offer a range in reading resources. We would like resources that could reach every type of reader. Some of our students like to use felt boards, magnetic dolls to create stories- while others like to sit back in the rocker and read. I figured the Leapfrog systems would be an excellent addition to our reading center to help our beginning and developed readers.
