Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are so excited to be back in the classroom. My students are so resilient and have defied the odds by living through a pandemic while coming to class each day ready to learn and interact with their peers. My students are ready to dig in and learn all that they can.

As we all know hands-on activities make learning fun.

One area that continues to be of need is Literacy, specifically storytelling. Having hands-on activities for my students is so important for their development. This opportunity will allow my little ones to showcase their learning while having fun. For most of my students, kindergarten is their first experience in a classroom setting. These resources will allow them to have access to developmentally appropriate practice all while learning in our classroom environment.

My Project

Picture books and storytelling tools are an intricate part of kindergarten. Part of the engagement for our little ones is seeing themselves through the characters that they read about. I want them to know that the characters they see come from families that are reflective of them and their families.

Having picture books and storytelling tools that reflect the backgrounds that my students come from are so important for my little ones to have.

Exposing my students to a variety of authors allows them to see themselves as an author as well, which is so important for our little ones.
