Mrs. Thomas from Houston TX is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need two tablets for reading and math to use in the classroom.

I will have a first grade classroom this year. They are already reading but need a lot of time practicing and developing fluency. Many of my kids will reach the goals set for first grade by our district. My challenge is to provide opportunities for them to grow above and beyond those goals.
Many of my students live below the poverty line and do not have access to the same types of technology they need to be successful in today's competitive environments.
My students will be able to work independently on the kindles as well as with a partner or buddy. They will also help with the student who requires more challenging activities as well as the student who requires extra help. The kindles will also provide assistance with tutorial intervention. Students can work at their own pace. This technology will certainly lead the way for my students.
Technology Leads the Way The students in my first grade class are very eager to learn new and interesting concepts. They strive to improve their reading, language, math and social science skills. With the use of the Kindles that I am requesting, I know that this will become possible. We continue to live in an age of technology and it continues to advance and improve. The Kindles will also assist my students in improving their technology skills. They will be able to use the Kindles during small group instruction and in workstations daily. These tablets will open up a whole new world for my students and aid in completing individual research projects and daily classroom activities.
Many of my students do not have access to technology they need to compete in the world.
With the Kindles I am requesting, my students will be able to work independently as well as with a partner or buddy. They will also help the students who require challenging activities and the one who requires extra help. The Kindles will also provide assistance with tutorial intervention. Students can work at their own pace. They will be able to set goals that are personal and achievable.
