My Project

We are excited to introduce our “Feeding Readers Produces Leading Believers” school event, designed to support literacy and foster a love of reading within our school. To make this event successful, we are seeking funding for books to go into classroom libraries that will create a socioemotional inviting atmosphere for all participants. The bracelets will be worn in literacy solidarity for all participants.

The “Feeding Readers Produces Leading Believers” initiative will be led by our students, who will take an active role in organizing and hosting this special event.

Students will gather in our school library, and get to choose a free book for themselves to share with their family for the remainder of the school year. Teachers will receive 1-2 books for their classroom libraries on socioemotional learning topics. This event will not only encourage reading but also promote community building and social interaction among students from different grades and amongst students in their grade levels.

As part of the preparation, students will help organize and gather book donations for those who may not have access to books at home, and plan engaging activities like group read-alouds and storytelling sessions. This hands-on experience will empower students to take ownership of the event, develop leadership skills, and foster a spirit of collaboration and kindness.

This initiative will benefit the entire school community, which includes students from PreK through fifth grade, as well as teachers and staff. The books we are requesting will play a crucial role in making our “Feeding Readers Produces Leading Believers” event a success. They will create a comfortable and inviting space for students to gather, read, and enjoy each other’s company. The books and bracelets will also help unite our students with an unofficial "uniform", making it a signature event for everyone involved.
