Reading Every Day!

My students need their own copies of reading text that they can annotate and use as reference during our novel studies this school year.

My Students

My students are unique in each of their own way...some love to dance, some really dislike recess, and some just want a quiet place to drift off into their thoughts.

This year, I really want to instill a love of reading in each of my students.

Understanding that reading can take you on many different adventures and help you navigate the world is an important skill, and my students deserve to have these experiences on a consistent basis. Thank you!

My Project

Because of Winn-Dixie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Bud, Not Buddy are excellent novels that incorporate all of our State Standards and allow the students to really dissect written materials through annotation, discussions, and opportunities for projects of their own based on their reading.

Because of Winn-Dixie teaches the students about acceptance and compassion.

With the socio-economic population that is served at my school, lessons like these are invaluable, and most students will only learn about it and understand how it works through reading that happens at school.

Bud, Not Buddy allows for each student to create their own jazz cafe, and to create alternate endings for the main character, Bud.
