¡Hola! Current research shows that nothing aids language acquisition better than "comprehensible input." This is input in the target language that students are able to make sense of. One of the best ways to provide this input is through reading. Students all have different interests and abilities, and therefore need choices from different texts to engage them.
With your support, my students will experience success through reading and understanding accessible, interesting and engaging authentic material.
Beginning and intermediate Spanish students participate in SSR (sustained silent reading) daily in my classes and are asked to reflect on their progress biweekly to further develop their language and interpretive skills.
Additionally, reading materials in another language and/or about another culture, helps students to develop cultural awareness, empathy, and overall understanding of the world around them. Mahalo / Thank You / Gracias for your support!
