My Students
My students and I are embarking on a new adventure. We are opening a brand new school together. While we are blessed with many new items, our school did not open with books that students can read at their level. My students are very enthusiastic, energetic and curious first graders. They love to discover new things, and watch the world around them. Many do not have access to books at home and treasure our classroom library. Their eyes light up when they get materials to take home as a part of their own collection.
My students are creative, inquisitive , and learn best with hands on experiences.
They thrive when they have visuals and and examples they can refer back to when making connections to new ideas. I am honored every year when I am blessed with a new batch of young learners, their newly discovered insights inspire me to be a learner on a daily basis.
My Project
These materials will help boost the confidence that early readers need. These books are engaging, yet written at a level where early readers can navigate and use their new literacy skills to practice reading independently.
First graders are expected to read grade level text independently, fluently, with purpose by the end of the year.
These books will help them reach this goal, by having a variety of fiction and non fiction text, written to meet the needs of new readers. It is always amazing to see these learner's eyes light up once they have successfully read through a new text!
