My Project
Our school does not have a classroom library or librarian. Additionally, our curriculum is very Eurocentric and I consistently hear students express extreme apathy towards reading.
I believe this is due to the fact that they are not provided the opportunity to see themselves in the texts they read.
Our campus is incredibly diverse and students need to be able to be represented in the works they read.
This project will allow students to experience diverse stories, ones that speak to their own experiences. It will allow them to have a first hand experience with books they will find interesting.
