This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am starting a reading decathlon group at my school! Several middle schools in my district compete each year. In order to get a group started, I need multiple copies of the selected books. Luckily, the lists reuse some of the books every fourth year! It's a lot to start out with, but will get more manageable in the future.
Student input and diversity of the list is really important to us!
Even though some of the books are reused, a few are different every year to make sure we are staying current, representing our students, and acknowledging their interests.
I'm really hoping to get a large group of students to join, and having multiple copies means we can have book clubs in addition to those who decide to compete.
