This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It is such a joy and challenge to work with twenty-two third grade magnet students.

They are enthusiastic, inquisitive, creative, and have a passion for the arts. My students attend school in a low income area. The entire school is on a free breakfast and lunch program.

My Project

My project is a request for resources needed for upcoming events and projects. In celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday, the pencils will be given to my third grade magnet class to encourage the students to continually read and write. My students and I love art so the Velcro and mounting tape will be used to create gifts to honor their parents and the parent volunteers at our school. Every trimester, some of my students are chosen to receive the Principal's Awards. The "Excellence" gold seals will be placed on the certificates to reflect the achievement of each recipient. Finally, my students will use the large Ziploc bags to organize the games and materials in the classroom. It will be great to locate things quickly and not waste time searching for supplies.

The resources requested are essential to my students.

The pencils are an encouragement to read and write. The Velcro and mounting tape will be used to express gratitude and appreciation to the adults in their lives. The gold seals will shout out "Excellence", a job well done! And the large Ziploc bags will empower my students to take ownership of their classroom.
