Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a mixture of exceptional learners, English language learners and high poverty students who are hungry to become strong, independent and fluent readers. I teach two wonderful groups of fourth graders who are hungry to learn!
I am so excited to bring in my current class of third graders and turn them into fourth grade rockstar readers next year!
Many of these students will start the new year struggling to truly enjoy reading as a pleasure and for fun, and I believe it is my job to help shift this view!
My Project
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Products and Services have been used in our district for many years. These online resources, including the Reading Counts program, have been available to our students when we can creatively find funds to cover the purchase price.
As teachers, we believe this product is worth fundraising, putting in our own funds, and asking for support from the community so our children can benefit and become stronger and motivated readers.
Reading Counts puts students in the driver’s seat. Teachers guide students, while engaging quizzes and activities help hone students’ reading skills with authentic practice—encouraging growth. We get reports that help us tailor instruction and keep students accountable for their independent reading. Please help us get this much needed resource.
