Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students I serve are newcomers to the United States. They are English Language Learners (ELLs) with various levels of reading experiences. Not only are they asked to read, they are asked to do it in English which is not their first language, and in some cases not their second or third.
With your support, I hope to create a reading corner where students can comfortably sit down and immerse themselves in stories from a variety of books in both English and in their native languages.
With materials like a timer, bookmarks, a comfy carpet, and of course books my students can continue to explore and enjoy the power of storytelling.
