Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are starting the school year with distance learning. Each school year, I strive to create a classroom that is both conducive to learning and functional. This will be new for all of us, but I am certain that they will start the year eager to learn.

"Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way." - George Evans

My students are migrant learners who live on a reservation. They are eager to learn despite the odds they have against them in their lives. At our school, we do everything we can to help them be college and career-ready. This includes being people who are hard workers and excited to learn.

My Project

These books will help all students get the opportunity to become striving readers! Students come to my classroom at different reading levels. Whether it is learning to recognize high frequency words, matching the letter sounds to the print, or identifying patterns in words, early readers need lots of books to reinforce and practice their new skills.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose a title that appeals to them and set to work practicing their reading on a book that is at their "Just Right" reading level so that they can experience the thrill of success and the joy of a good story.

The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these tried and true books will help my students continue to grow stronger in their reading.
