My Project
The new book A Rover's Story by Jasmine Warga is the middle-grade choice for this year's Global Read Aloud. I need copies of the book for a group of students I will work with in our library, and for 4th grade teachers who want to participate with their classes. Together, we will participate in the GRA - reading and connecting with each other and the world through a shared reading of an amazing book.
As we participate in the Global Read Aloud, teachers and students will read, discuss, react to, and respond to the book at the same time as students across our district, state, country, and around the world!
The 4th-grade classes at my four schools can connect with each other through common activities in our Library Media Center, and online. From Harper Collins: "The One and Only Ivan meets The Wild Robot in this unique and deeply moving middle grade novel about the journey of a fictional Mars rover, from the Newbery Honor–winning author of Other Words for Home."
I have participated in the GRA for many years, and it is always a deeply meaningful experience for teachers and students. The Global Read Aloud creates opportunities for teachers and students to connect, communicate, share ideas, and have their voices heard. At the same time that teachers and students are enjoying reading this meaningful book, they will also be using digital tools to connect and communicate with others. Our students will learn the power of a book to connect with others!
