Reading Comprehension Through Games

My Students

My second graders are excited, strong, and eager to learn! They approach everything with wonder and a positive attitude. They come from diverse backgrounds which makes our classroom a truly differentiated learning community!

Their eagerness to learn makes me can't wait to see them everyday!

Our school has close ties to our neighborhood. Many of my students' parents and grandparents attended our school. My students love to learn what school was like for their parents and grandparents "Back in the day!"

My Project

Our families and myself want to make the best of our remote learning time. I want activities that students can do at home that are similar to what we would do at school. I also want activities that families can to do together to build my students literacy skills and develop a love of reading.

With the new printer and reading games, my families will be able to check out different leveled texts and reading comprehension games each week to use at home.

I can print leveled reading texts so students can read books at home. The reading games will allow students to practice their reading comprehension skills while having some much needed off screen time. Our school has a cabinet that parents can access during the day so they will be able to check out books and a new game each week to play at home whether we are learning from home or in person.
