This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember getting to use fun-filled board games to develop your reading comprehension skills when you were in the third grade? Yeah,...neither do I! Luckily, today, there are plenty of high-interest kid-friendly ways for students to develop these skills in today's classrooms.

My students, a diversified group of 8 and 9 year old third graders, live in an economically disadvantaged area.

They attend a southern California Pre-K through 8th grade school with just over 1,000 students from racially diverse backgrounds. It is a working class Title I neighborhood school. This year's group of third graders are very motivated learners who enjoy reading.

My Project

My students need fun and high-interest hands-on reading activities such as Getting the Main Idea Around the World, Comprehension Best Sellers and Figurative Language Alien Landing, to help with various reading comprehension skills. These board games are perfect! These particular reading comprehension skills board games for my students will support and enhance my students' understanding of the various third grade reading comprehension state standards that they are required to be proficient in. From sequencing a story, to getting the main idea, to reading for details, to figurative language.... just to name a few of the reading skills. AND,... all in an exciting, hands-on kind of way! The board games may be used for small group learning, for differentiated learning, for independent-work time learning. For pre-teaching a concept or to re-teach and review a concept. It's a win-win situation for the students and teacher!

Please help my students become better readers with these core reading comprehension skills board games.

The board games are very durable and easy to use. And, in terms of getting your money's worth- with year after year of classroom usage... it's a great value!
