My Students

My students' favorite activity during their centers-based reading block is reading games. They get to spend their time focused on the skills they are lacking, and it's so fun that they don't notice how much smarter they're becoming!

My students are in third grade in a second-year Teach For America classroom in Oklahoma.

They live in a high-need community, and are determined to become great readers! Seventy percent of our school's students are Hispanic, most of whom are English language learners. Each of my students has an ambitious, individualized reading goal that he or she is working hard to achieve. I measure my students' growth regularly to keep them motivated and they thrive on their frequent successes!

My Project

Our class needs more reading games to use during centers time so that my students can improve at a variety of comprehension skills. By using appropriate materials, my students can make progress toward their individual reading goals, and have fun doing it!
