This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have a love of learning. They enjoy being at our school because we have smaller class sizes and can foster great relationships not only between the students but with the teachers as well. As a Charter School, our students come from many walks of life; many of them are from lower-income homes. What brings them together is the joy of learning and the family-like environment that we create within the school.
My students are enthusiastic about learning new ideas.
They're excited for the school year to start and I am excited to teach them all I can.
My Project
In today's society, students often wonder why they have to read books. Often, they feel that the ideas within books aren't very important or interesting, and would rather rely on social media for entertainment. The society described within these pages is the perfect example of what could happen if we cannot read books and do not have access to different ideas. My 10th-grade students found the concept of this society interesting, so I am requesting a classroom set so that we can read it together. Help me show my students the importance of books and the dangers of censorship. I truly think they will enjoy this novel.
