This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello Everyone, I am a 4th and 5th Grade combo teacher returning from a 4-year leave of absence. I was relocated to a new site and unfortunately, I lost all of the classroom furniture I had before my leave. In the reading center, the students will be able to read and transport themselves to wherever the world of books will take them.

My 4th/5th graders are troopers.

They have adjusted to one another aside from the age difference between them. In our classroom, we have a tiny reading center with only two chairs that were donated by another teacher and two regular desks. My students usually read at their desks because there is not enough room for a group of students to sit together and enjoy a book in comfort and relaxation.

I believe that my students deserve a reading center with rockers and a podium that they can be proud of and most of all enjoy it. Reading is a fundamental skill that all students need. Why not give them a chance to not only love reading but also have a comfy place to do it? I hope that you will find that our classroom wish is a must not a want. Thank you.
