My students are bright, active, and kind first graders . They are up for some challenges and love to show a little about themselves individually. We are learning to become fluent readers, mathematicians, scientists and good listeners.
My class is a multilingual class with great diversity.
All the students are very inquisitive and have diverse needs. Our school is a small elementary school in the city of Los Angeles in the Los Angeles Unified School District. We have a diverse population and are multilingual English Language Learners.
My Project
The puzzles and magnetic manipulative will allow the students to
master the concepts learned in class and assist those that are struggling.
The students will be able to use the puzzles as an independent literacy center while in groups.
These manipulative reading activities will reinforce the reading skills and common core standards that my first graders need to increase their reading fluency.
I can just imagine the joy in my English Language Learners eyes as they play these games and master the reading skills independently, and the satisfaction that they did it on their own. These manipulatives will help to carry over to their reading fluency.
