Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

CPPA students are from a diverse, poverty population. Our school has a 96% free-reduced lunch program. Our population of students is over 450 students from the ages Preschool to the sixth grade. Our building is over 100 years old with no working library. Our students are hard-working and enthusiastic about learning. This project is for ALL the students at my school. The rocker, rug, and bins will be used to help our students have a library where they can access books, have a place to read in a warm way.

Our students deserve an inviting place where they can access books and have a cozy spot to read or be read to.

I am hoping to build an area at my school that has organized books and an appealing environment which engages students that promote literacy. I would love if our students could have an area other than their classroom that would be inviting to them and get them excited about learning. I would love to put books into children's hands and have them hear stories in a warm environment.

My Project

My project is a school-wide initiative to organize, engage and create a book area for our students. This project will help bring a seating area and tools to help organize books for our shelves.

There is no better gift we can give our students than putting books into their hands.

I am creating a cozy, organized space where students can access books and have a place to read them or be read to. Our school is over 100 years old. Our current non-working library needs some tender loving care with new a look. I'm hoping to bring this space back to life so students can fall in love with reading.
