Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach third grade at a Title 1 school in South Carolina. Many of my students come from low income households, and almost fifty percent of them are Hispanic. Many of my third graders are struggling with learning how to read and write because they do not have the additional resources they could use to help them.
My students want to be good readers and writers. I can see it all over their faces as they listen to me teach. However, I cannot supply them with all the necessary resources that will help them.
I believe that having a Reading and Writing center and the other additional literacy resources will enable my students to become successful readers and writers. The Readers Theater Books will provide the students with opportunities to read and build fluency. The Reading and Writing Center and other items will be used daily by my students to help them gain the skills they need to become good readers and writers. By donating towards my project, you will be providing my students with resources they would not have otherwise.
Please consider donating these materials to my classroom!! I have 19 eager students who would love to use these materials and become lifelong readers and writers.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
