This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I am teaching a 1st/2nd grade combo class. I am extremely excited, but I have been thinking about a lot of ways to make reading fun during our independent reading time this year.
My goal for this project is to create a comfortable and engaging environment for practicing reading skills, building confidence, and fostering a love for books.
With majority of my students coming from Kindergarten, the plush stuffed animals will help give them a sense of comfortability so they can practice their reading skills and enhance their comprehension in a fun and engaging way.
These plush stuffed animals will not just be used for independent reading. Sometimes our days as 1st and 2nd graders can be difficult and sometimes our kiddos just need a companion to make it through the day. These stuffed animals will also be used as needed to assist our students in our calming corner.
