Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students love to hold book buddies during story time so they can listen to the story, or when they get a chance to read their newly selected library book. Books and book buddies have a special way of reaching children bringing joy, smiles, and laughter.
My goal is to instill a love of reading in my eager first graders and these book buddies are a great motivator.
Being able to read to the stuffed animals will increase vocabulary, improve reading skills, develop reading comprehension skills, sharpen intonation skills, and advance communication skills. The reading buddies will promote more engagement in reading. These stuffed animals are characters from the books they are reading, this will make reading exciting and fun for my students! This will also foster their creativity and imagination. If given the opportunity to use their imagination and be creative students are more likely to stay focused and engaged in learning, thus improving their reading skills. Please help bring book buddies to life for my amazing, eager-to-read firsties.
