Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year teaching and I will be teaching Kindergarten. The school where I will be teaching at is a Title 1 school, where all of my students will be receiving free and reduced lunch. Many of my students will be entering our classroom for the first time and will be excited to see what has been put in place for them. My goal is to provide them with the best learning experiences by engaging them in hands-on activities and helping them access their learning.
My Project
At this age, my students are constantly exploring the varieties of books to find what really interest them! They are learning how to read and I believe they should be given the opportunity to read books that they will like.
The purpose of these books are to be able to send home and to give my students access to reading books.
As a 1st year teacher, I wanted to create little book bags for my students and send books home with them. However, I did not have access to reading books that will be appropriate for my students. With this opportunity, my students and I are hoping to have books that can be taken home to encourage their readings! These books will be appropriately age appropriate for my students, especially since these books are range from different levels.
With access to these reading books, it will help my students becomes better readers and to develop reading strategies that will definitely help them when they move on to another grade level. Also, it will help them understand and comprehend the text or story and to be able to verbally explain or retell the text/ story to someone.
