My Students

I love to read books and love teaching students how to read. The joy that comes from their faces when they begin reading on a higher level is just inspiring for me to see. I want to instill in them the pure joy that can come from picking up a good book and being transported in their imagination to another place. I have a class of 19 kids, 7 girls and 12 boys. We are a low income school with a diverse population.

My Project

Without reading children will struggle in every other subject. Please consider giving to my class library so that I can help children see the joy that comes from reading. First grade is the time when we need to really pour into these children the love and importance of reading and comprehension. Many of these children never pick up a book outside of class so I want to insure that while I have them they are not only reading, but loving what they are reading. If we can make these students readers early I believe they’ll always have a love for reading.
