My Students
Each day we have reading workshop and students are able to choose a set of books as their own library for a week. They get excited to go "shopping" and need a place to hold their books.
We are a class of ESL (English as a Second Language) students.
We work hard to catch up on basic skills some of us have not come to school with. We work hard integrating reading and writing into all parts of the school day. The students are hard workers who need extra support to reach their goals.
My Project
I am requesting 6 sets of book bins to keep their books organized for reading workshop.
Each day we have Reading Workshop as part of our literacy block. Students have the opportunity to read on their own after taking part in a whole class lesson. Each week students "shop" for books where they pick a set of books that go along with what we are studying, such as books about characters, nonfiction, etc. They learn how to choose appropriate books and how to read them independently. These book bins will help us keep our books organized.
These bins will help our classroom stay organized and the students stay focused.
In the past, we had cardboard book bins. The students spent more time playing with the bins that reading their books. Now we will be able to keep our books clean and organized and our classroom will look great too!
