Reading Audio Books Together

Help me give my students a Yoto audio player with a protective case and Yoto audio book cards with a card holding book.

My Project

All children love being read to. What makes my students a bit different is that many of them have learning disabilities than make reading to themselves much harder, so they depend on being read to if they want to read the stories their same-age peers are reading. It is problematic that grownups are not always available to provide this service on-demand. This is why the Yoto player will be a game changer.

The Yoto player is a screen-free device for listening to stories.

Children put a card in the top and the story is read to them by real voice actors (not a computer voice). They can listen out loud through the speakers as a group or use headphones to listen on their own. Because the stories are unabridged, they can follow along in print copies of the books (if they choose to). While this won't take the place of reading books aloud together, it will help my students gain access to the stories they love and independence in making these choices for themselves.

I've also requested a little binder that stores the cards in an organized way, because as with all things, little parts will get lost if we don't have a plan for keeping them.
