My students need interesting Young Adult Literature to help spark their interest for leisurely reading! I want to teach them not to be afraid of books and that reading can help them escape problems and get through obstacles they may face.
Reading as an Escape!
I teach English to 9th grade students at a high-poverty, urban high school.
Many of my at-risk, struggling students have just shown an interest in reading! I face the obstacle of not having a wide range of interesting books for some of my more challenging students. This donation would give me the ammunition I need to "blast" these students into a successful future.
We need books to add to our classroom library. I have already gathered some at garage sales, bought some with my own money, and asked students to bring in books to donate to our classroom library.
