it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students are thoughtful and enthusiastic learners.
They come to class each day eager to see their school family and tackle academic challenges. I am constantly amazed by their ingenuity and desire to be better than they were yesterday.
In my classroom, we focus on becoming learners, not just learning material. Hopefully, the skills they acquire are ones that will benefit them throughout their academic journey.
My Project
As a reading teacher who lives with artists, I understand the importance of being able to express yourself artistically. I see this when my students' faces light up anytime they have a moment to draw or color. This is why one of my goals this year is to incorporate more artistic expression in ELAR lessons.
These supplies would allow my students to show what they see in their mind while reading, illustrate poems, and create artwork for stories they write.
I want to create an environment where all of my students have moments to shine. The artists, the readers, the writers, the over achievers, and the under achievers.
