My Project
I work with first graders who are learning English and also first graders who need extra support developing early literacy skills. My students are joyful and eager learners who can't wait to read and write with me! Historically, I have worked with students 1:1, but next year I will be taking larger groups of students. Currently, I only have single copies of texts for student readers and I need your help acquiring sets of texts that I can use to teach small groups of students!
I have selected this particular set of texts because they were created in consultation with a literacy expert I admire.
I would be so excited to share them with my students. This text set also features diverse characters and topics and will help me reach a wide range of learners.
I am also requesting items that will enhance my work on texts with students, such as magnetic letters and writing journals to write about reading. I know these materials are what my students need to have positive initial experiences with reading and writing, and can't wait to expand my work in my school building with the help of your generous support.
