This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We desperately need new books; ours are falling apart, and we don't have enough for all our English classes. We like to do whole class instruction on at least one novel a year, but lack of texts can be an insurmountable obstacle. Students are more successful when they feel valued and respected, so providing new books would provide a spark in my classroom.
Similarly, we like to use notebooks for in-class work like responding to text and answering questions about the content being learned.
A majority of our students struggle financially, so probividing these notebooks, although it is a small gesture, makes students feel valued and respected.
