Help me give my students an iPad that will allow them to translate their school text into speech and highlight word by word, in order to keep up with the demands of their grade level instruction.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The iPad Pro is a device that our district cannot provide for each student. My special education students have literacy deficits that span over a 9 year period. That means that they are in the 9the grade and read on the Kindergarten level.
The iPad pro would allow them to access their grade level text through software that will take a picture of the document and highlight it as it reads it aloud.
These same students have issues writing. The iPad would easily allow them to speak into it and type their responses. The Teacher's often have notes on the board. This device would allow them to take a picture of the notes and transfer it their notes at a slower pace (in their intervention class) rather than the fast pace that the teacher expects from the other students.
This device would be acceptable in classrooms and the students will feel confident about their learning material. I feel like the students will appreciate this device and their grades will improve drastically.
