This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have the privilege of working with some students maneuvering dyslexia and reading differences, who find reading and writing challenging. As the reading intervention teacher, I work with them in a small group setting. My students are hesitant and can get discouraged when they compare themselves to their classmates who do not struggle with reading.

To inspire them, I provide a variety of writing materials and incorporate a multi-sensory approach to teaching reading and writing.

They will be so excited to use these new materials, such as the ABC dough stampers, dry erase markers that are color-coded for brain-based learning, and multi-sensory gel-bead sensory shapes for writing the letter while saying the sound to allow them to orthographically map the letter shape to the sound.
