I am a 28-year old teacher of a class of 28 bright, wonderful and lovable first grade students. I have been teaching at my school for six years now. I am not from the area, but there is something special about the kids that go to my school. I have become very attached to them. I truly feel that I can help them and change and shape their futures. This year is my second year teaching my grade's gifted class. My kids are unbelievable. They teach ME new things every day! I want to give them everything in my power that I can to help them prosper and succeed in life. My children range in age from six to eight years old, and they are all fully literate. Many are reading on third and fourth grade reading levels. They never cease to amaze me. Some of my children need extra motivation to get them to read and write. I would love to get each one of my students their own reading and writing folders. I use basic paper folders in class, and my kids show little interest in them. When I saw these brightly colored plastic-coated folders, I knew that my kids would love them. These folders will be put to GREAT use. The reading folders will be taken home with them every weekend so they can complete their weekly reading assignment. The writing folders will stay in their desks, and they may add to them as they chose. I am very fortunate to have such a great bunch of kids. They deserve every opportunity that children in the suburbs have.
