This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Our district cannot provide the iPad Pro for each student. My special education students have literacy deficits that span over a nine-year period. That means that they are in the ninth grade and read and solve math problems on the Kindergarten level.
The iPad Pro would allow them to access their grade-level text through software that takes a picture of the document and highlights it as it reads it aloud.
This device allows the student to pull up two screens at the same time: one to access the assignment and the other to use resources.
These same students have issues writing. The iPad would easily allow them to speak into it and type their responses. The Teacher often has notes on the board. This device would allow them to take a picture of the notes and transfer it their notes at a slower pace (in their intervention class) rather than the fast pace that the teacher expects from the other students.
This device would be acceptable in classrooms and the students will feel confident about their learning material. I feel like the students will appreciate this device and their grades will improve drastically!
