Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students have not yet discovered books that capture their imaginations, because they are still struggling with language. Offering them different types of reading materials will be very helpful.

I teach first grade in a high-poverty neighborhood.

The majority of my class is made up of second language learners. They enjoy school and try their best to learn every day. They are at the age where they desperately want to learn and I am always trying to offer them different items to enable their learning of core curriculum as well as a second language. Using these Scholastic Weekly Readers will offer them different reading materials with beautiful photographs that will help them become better readers and introduce them to different areas of science and social studies.

My Project

Please remember when you were in first grade and had many different opportunities to have fun and enjoy learning. With all of the pressures and expectations children are dealing with...offering them a bright and engaging subscription could encourage them to continue learning. Scholastic does a wonderful job providing them with reading material, activities and even printable that will help the lesson easily move from school to home.

Your donation will help students work with one another and open a new world of learning by offering them opportunities to learn and read about science and social studies.

My first grade students will feel excited and eager to learn when they see these beautiful vibrant photographs offered through these weekly subscriptions, it will help me have more diverse work centers in order to keep my students more engaged in learning.
