My students need books to read that meet their individual needs and a comfortable space to enjoy them. My students love to read and we would love some new books to add to our collection.

My Students

I am a teacher in an area of low-income and high poverty students who come to school to be loved first and then to learn. Over 76% of the students are labeled as economically disadvantaged, and over 45% are English as a second language learners.

My students have a variety of abilities and disabilities that make my classroom a beautiful rainbow of colors.

We all come together for the common goal of building a loving classroom environment where each child can flourish to their full individual potential.

I strive to provide my students with meaningful learning experiences each and every day. I cannot control what happens outside of school, but I do my best every day to make sure they are safe, loved, and confident learners. After all, kindergarten is where we build a solid foundation for the rest of their educational careers.

My Project

As a kindergarten teacher, I know that importance of having a variety of books available for my students. They need books that spark their interest and a safe and comfortable space to read in.

I will strive to provide my students with a safe place where they can comfortably practice their reading skills on books that are age appropriate.

I would love to have the chairs for my students to be able to relax and read in a pressure-free environment. My students do not have exposure to a literacy rich environment in their homes and I want to be the one to expose them to the world of reading!
