My Students
My scholars are lively group of 5th graders that live in a rural community in Hawaii. Students living in these areas often have limited resources and experiences that are usually available students their age living in the United States.
As their teacher, I hope to provide opportunities for learning for them through project based learning where they will be able to nurture their basic reading/math skills, encourage critical thinking and collaboration with others and empower them with the skills necessary to be successful 21st century learners.
These scholars amaze me each day when they are focused on what they are learning, when they are engaged in the lessons, and when they are excited about what they will learn about next.
My Project
This project is focused on enhancing the classroom environment with useful and eye catching reference posters. The posters and charts target key content in Reading, Math, Science and Citizenship. These posters will be used in lessons as tools students can refer back to when working independently on classwork individually and in cooperative groups.
Students need reference posters and anchor charts to support their learning and reinforce steps when solving multi-step problems.
Often times students do not know what information is important or what they should write down when taking notes in class. These posters will also provide much needed teaching support during lessons by serving as an example for what needs to be jotted down in their notes when reviewing them independently at home.
