This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Getting lost in a great book. Not being able to wait to do that next science experiment. Finally understanding when you get that math problem! I want my students to experience those things much more often than they do. These resource can help achieve that goal.
We are a high poverty school.
Although, we are very lucky to have a great staff and many teachers who give many hours to help our students learn, we are still at a major disadvantage when it comes to motivation for wanting to learn. Many of our kids come from a home that is more focused on keeping a roof over their heads and trying to feed their kids, than sitting down and reading a book with them. Many don't have that parent to sit and check their homework. So, anytime I can motivate them to choose resources in our classroom to help them understand, I do!
My Project
The white boards, markers and erasers are a super motivation tool in all subject areas. We do have some, but they are old and after a while they do not clean up well and it takes away the fun of using them. I can get my students to do almost any work if they can write it on the whiteboards. I have chosen books, in all content areas, that will help to motivate my students to read and discover through books many of the areas we cover in our lessons. These will provide a newer and fresher look into those areas. Some of the other resource, are to supplement our supplies we have (Just not enough)! I want when I do an investigation with my students to have them each be able to put hands on the activities. They can share, but sometimes, not having enough tools cuts down on the time we can spend on any one lesson.
You donations will help us so much.
I will be able to use these resource for my current students as well as all my students for many years to come. This will impact each class as they come through and help them secure that base of knowledge that it so very important! Thank you in advance for your generous support!
