Our school is high poverty and most are from single parent homes, being raised by grandparents or aunts and uncles. Most don't have many of their own books. We allow them to borrow books from the classroom library as well as our school library to help get them reading! I always purchase a set of Battle Books myself, but that is not enough for all my students. Our school library only has 2 copies of each title. My students are always looking for copies of the Battle Books.
