Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you ever remember being able to go to the library to relax, read and just get away? Unfortunately, I don’t and I strongly believe in having a welcoming environment for all types of students. I am currently at a Title I campus and most of our students have many disadvantages at home, which is why I feel the school library is extremely important. We have English and Spanish speaking students and it is beautiful how they all come together to do something of unity, “reading!” I love how students are constantly wanting to come to the library to read and feel it is their home. I want to continue giving and one way is to provide that furniture for them to continue doing what they love, “reading.”
My Project
When students think of a library, they think of a place they call home. We have a variety of learners who enter our library on a daily basis. Reading happens in a variety of places but sitting on a chair at a table has been long in the past. Learning is not done one way and this is why we would love flexible seating for our students. In our library, reading aloud takes place every day so our readers venture off to another world. Please help make this a dream come true for our students at SES.
