My Students
I am a first-grade teacher who works in a low income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with many challenges on a daily basis and helping them enjoy learning is my top priority. My students are determined to gain a love for reading through adventurous reading opportunities. Although there are many disadvantages and challenges, I encourage my students to find a comfortable place to read whenever possible. As my students attempt to navigate through the ever-changing and amazing world we live in, I want to make sure they have an adequate amount of resources to help them. I want my students to know the importance of books and how they can help them explore unlimited adventures that can be fun and so rewarding. I want my students to understand how reading can contribute to increased reading enjoyment and fluency, build reading awareness, while making meaningful connections, and ultimately improve weakened skills. Multiple reading resources will give students the opportunity to explore a magnitude of adventures as they navigate through the wonderful world of learning.
My Project
Each school year students struggle with maintaining the consistency and gaining a focus and love required to be successful in building reading skills due to loss of interest in reading. By introducing students to a variety of books and series, students will ultimately increase their attentiveness and interest to learn. Many students struggle with finding academic outlets in the classroom to help them stay focused. The books from this project will make a huge difference in the students' learning by providing them with reading materials that will help to increase their love for reading adventures, as well as improve their interest to learn and manipulate millions of words.
