My Students

I hope you can help me give my students a warm, fun and comfortable environment where they will enjoy learning.

My students come from diverse backgrounds

I teach kindergarten in Trenton New Jersey. My students are exceptional, with diverse backgrounds, multicultural and come to school excited to learn every day. They live in an inner-city with high in poverty. They face tremendous challenges daily but continue to strive. I am looking to keep things enjoyable and provide my classroom with safe and nurturing learning experiences. The students are creative and very spontaneous.

They love reading, writing, math, and science activities.

My Project

Kindergarten is tough for teachers and students. Many times students have never experienced school before and some never been exposed to reading. My project request is focused on reading and learning to read. Currently, my school does not have a library or the resources to aid students in learning to read in a small group setting for my grade level. The resources requested will help me to work with students on a one to one bases or in small group instruction. Working with students on this level will boost student and teacher relationships and enhance the love of reading. This is important because kindergarten sets the tone for a lifetime of learning and achievement and students need to feel empowered and successful. My goal is to teach students the basics of reading to become a lifetime for reader.
