My students need a dependable listening center.

I teach Kindergarten at a Title 1 school in Tennessee. My kids are loving and eager to learn on a daily basis. It amazes me everyday how willing and able Kindergarteners are. A typical day in my classroom can be defined in two words: ORGANIZED CHAOS. We are up and moving from the time we enter.
I teach at a school that could be described as an inner city school.
Many of my students come from single parents households that are facing poverty and environmental hazards. However, you ask me about my students and I will always tell you that they are the smartest and best classroom of students in my entire school. I am blessed with a group of learners that have a hunger for knowledge. My students come to school everyday with eagerness to master standards, ask questions, and present knew learning to their classroom friends. Covington Integrated Arts Academy is a public school serving 632 students ranging from Pre-K to 8th grade. We are a magnet school. My school is a wonderful place to be a part of. We are a Title 1, arts integrated school. There is a sense of camaraderie at my school that is unlike anything that I have ever felt in other educational organizations. We have a faculty that genuinely cares about the students that we serve.
My students LOVEEEEEEEE being read to, so their favorite center to visit on a daily basis is the Listening Center. Sadly, my poor listening center is struggling. I've purchased cheap headphones that always break, I've bought a CD player every year that usually stops working at some point, and at this point I want to provide my students with dependable materials! The students learn listening comprehension skills along with so many other skills at the listening center.
This project will make our learning environment even more literacy rich.
Reading is something that Kindergarteners are now required to achieve and we need all of the literacy resources that we can possibly have. I'm preparing FUTURE readers!
