Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This past school year we implemented a new literacy curriculum and I want Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to get teacher-created resources to support my students in developing comprehension skills in this new experience. Most of my students are still in the process of learning how to read and write. I would like to provide these children with materials that support them to advance their literacy skills, like vocabulary cards, graphic organizers, and worksheets for reading comprehension practice.

I want my students to learn how to read while reading to learn.

The resources I want to get with your donation are available online and were created by teachers who have been using this new curriculum for a longer time. These resources will allow me to prepare materials ahead of time so students are ready to learn new vocabulary, write in journals, find new words in glossaries, and feel excited about reading books. I want my students to reach their highest potential and meet grade level standards.

I am a teacher in an under-resourced school where all students receive free lunch and breakfast. My students come from low-income households and many of them face trauma and challenges in their daily lives. These students are minority students who need love and care.

Many children do not know how wonderful reading is because they do not have the opportunity to spend time with books. They have not had the chance yet to find in books all the adventures and new journeys they could have in their lives.
