My Project

Our school used to have a beautiful large library with a fully staffed librarian. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts and funding we lost this incredible library, the books, and our wonderful librarian.

Now my classroom corner has become my students new library.

I have personally stocked books for years in my library. However, many books are falling apart and newer books are coming out that are a better representation of different cultures, religions, holidays, traditions, and even genres (like poetry).

Many of the books in my cart are newer multicultural books about Ramadan, Lunar New Year, New Year (from different perspectives), the Holocaust, and so much more. There are even books about Valentine's Day. The comic books will encourage my very low readers to read and not be embarrassed by what they are able to read on their level. This will give them confidence. The poetry books will open many students minds to different styles of writing and yet can still tell a story. I also added in different language books for my students to explore learning new languages on their own. The science books always are a big hit. Students love reading about science.
