My Project
My students want to read books about people who are like them, and these books will help them to do that. Most of the books that are currently in our classroom have a very narrow scope of peoples and cultures that are represented, and these books will help to diversify that collection.
Not only will these books help students from diverse backgrounds have books to read with characters that look and talk like them, but students will be able to learn about people and cultures that are different from their own.
All students need opportunities to learn about different cultures, and reading books and stories about these people is one of the best ways to do that!
